Objective: In recent years, the number of cases unruptured intracranial aneurysms in older patients has been increasing, but best treatment remains a matter debate. This study aimed to compare methods for aged 65 years and older. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted data from treated with surgical clipping or endovascular coiling between 2004 2019. Clinical imaging information collected. The methods, procedure-related complications, clinical results were analyzed. Data assessed through comparative analysis underlying diseases (diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia), smoking alcohol use history, location size who received each treatment, complications that occurred after treatment. Results: Of 211 over age 65, 71 140 coiling. immediately included postoperative hemorrhage (subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral intraventricular hemorrhage), chronic subdural infection, puncture site infection. Postoperative computed tomography images sites had four times more opacity than those coil embolization, outcomes (Glasgow outcome scores) showed no significant differences embolization. Conclusion: Coil embolization are safe effective elderly patients. Thus, active aneurysms, which likely be retrofitted, should considered.
